Will it never end?

I had my HIDA scan today to check my gallbladder. The first hour was simple, I laid on the table, the radiologist injected the isotope into my IV, and we just waited for the isotope to pool in my gallbladder. All the while, this huge machine was taking constant pictures of my gallbladder. That hour, while boring, was the best part of the test.

Once the hour had passed, she sat next to me and injected a syringe full of the chemical used to cause gallbladder contractions (CCK) into my IV. Within minutes I was beyond miserable. All of my symptoms that I normally get hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm so glad that she injected it slowly, or the pain would have been a lot worse.

Based on what little I know about HIDA scans, having an "episode" where all your normal symptoms hit you hard like that means that your gallbladder is not functioning right. Which would mean having another surgery to have it removed.
I won't know the "official results" of the HIDA scan until Monday, but everything so far has pointed to my gallbladder not functioning.

Why do I have so much wrong with me?

I am so sorry, but don't look at it like that or it will destroy you! Try to stay as positive as possible, let me know how the test goes.

Well, the HIDA scan came back normal. But my OB/GYN thought that it may be infected. So he sent me to a surgeon for a consultation.

I went to the surgeon today, and he said that he doesn't have enough reason to justify a surgery, and that he doesn't think my gallbladder is what is causing me trouble.

So now he wants to do one more ultrasound of my gallbladder because he doesn't trust that the ultrasound technician at the OB/GYN is capable of seeing gallstones.

If there are no stones still, then he is referring me to a gastroenterologist, who will do a scope to look at my stomach for ulcers.

It's driving me crazy that I can't get better.

There is a specialist in St. Louis where my parents live. I will be there next week, and I want to go see him. The problem is I will only be there for a week, and any follow up appointments or tests or anything will have to wait until I am able to go back to St. Louis. (I live 6 hours away)
